Volunteering in My Father's House
Volunteering in My Father's House:
Volunteering in My Father’s House is as easy as…
 1) Choosing a Sunday and a time that you are available. 2) Choosing an age group in which to work with… 3’s and 4’s or K-2nd or 3rd-5th. 3) Writing your name and group you chose on the date and time that you chose on the signup sheet in the hall. 4) Taking the packet (for the age group and date that you chose, located on the table by the door to My Father’s House) home with you to look over and get familiar with what you will be doing with your kids that Sunday. 5) Showing up about 15 minutes early to get prepared and to help supervise the children until we get started.
How a Sunday morning goes in My Father’s House:
1. The children have free time as they wait for everyone to arrive. They may jump on the moonwalk; do free art; use the art easels; dress up; play with assorted toys. You are needed to supervise. 2. We begin with worship. We all gather together in one big group and play music to dance and sing to, praising God. 3. Next, we all pray together. 4. Then we separate into age groups: 3's & 4; Kindergarten-2nd grade; 3rd-5th grade. 5. This is where you and your partner will take over your group for the activities in the packet. You will pick up a packet when you sign up. If you didn’t get a chance to pick up the packet beforehand, just try to arrive a bit earlier to look over your material. Your activities will include a Bible story and craft, snacks (sometimes), games, etc. 6. If you finish early, you can let the kids: do free art, play a game (Simon Says, Duck Duck Goose…), sing songs, or whatever you would like. 7. We dismiss our groups this way: One leader will be at the half door to take names. One leader will be at the back door to let out only the children whose names have been called. Other leaders will help children make sure that they have their crafts and go-home papers. 8. Lastly, we ask that you stick around to clean up your area and, if you lead the 10:00 service, make sure things are ready for the 11:30 Leader who is leading your age group after you.
Questions & Anwers:
What am I committing to? Only the Sunday or Sundays that you put your name down for on the signup sheet. Give it a try!
Where do I get the materials for the crafts? They will be at the church, ready to go.
What if I feel like I don’t know enough about the Bible to be a leader in My Father’s House? Please don’t feel that way! The really cool thing about leading children is that most times you end up learning so much! We will have everything you need. It is easier than it sounds!
Do I have to like kids and have patience to volunteer as a Leader in My Father’s House? Yep
Will I have someone to help me? We sure hope so! Our goal is to have at least two people in each age group to work together. That’s why we need you so much! We need at least 10 people every Sunday.
Thank you soooo much for considering using your time and talents to serve in this much needed area. Please don’t hesitate to contact Amy Hall with any questions that you may have. She would love to hear from you! Leaders, Welcome! So happy to have you! |
